Asia Forest Network
Forest Sector Contribution to the Millenium Development Goals

With support from the Japan Fund for Global Environment, AFN is facilitating the Asia Regional Exchange on Forest Sector Contribution to Millennium Development Goals (AFMDG). The aim of this 12-month project starting April 2006 is to generate synthesized learnings and articulations on how community forest management is contributing to poverty reduction and human security.

Under AFMDG, AFN will conduct:

  • The 11th AFN Regional Meeting that will focus on the Forest Sector Contribution to Millennium Development Goals
  • A review of forests and poverty reduction as these relate to local governance and community forest management practices
  • A field workshop on Participatory Land Use Planning for Human Security
